What are NFTs?

What are NFTs?

So you want to know what an NFT is. You keep hearing people talk about them and your like 'What is this mythical thing folks keep talking about?'. Well...Firstly what does it stand for? Non Fungible Token. Ah it all makes sense now...not.

Imagine you had a rare collectable Pokemon card and you where holding it in your hand, an NFT is the digital version of that (probably not as valuable tho).

Here's the techy bit: NFTs exist on a blockchain, which is a kind of digital ledger. Think of it like a record-keeping system that's super secure and transparent. Each NFT is unique because it has its own special info recorded on the blockchain. This uniqueness is what makes them non-fungible – you can't just swap one for another like you would with regular money or Bitcoin.

People use NFTs for all sorts of things: digital art, collectible items in games, tickets for events etc. They've become a popular way for artists and creators to sell their digital work, with some NFTs selling for millions. It's really giving value to digital art.

You can collect your favourite NFTs in your wallet and they are yours forever unless you decide to sell them on the secondary market. Digital frames are getting better and easier to use, within the next few years it will be easy to display all your NFTs on the walls of your house.
